Thursday, August 6th  was a very easy “fish only” day for me.  I had the regular Special K cereal for breakfast, then had some running around to do, trying to get my kid registered for school. I ignored the cravings I was having for sushi at least two hours until they got so strong that I stopped what I was doing in search of the nearest sushi restaurant. I ended up happily chowing down on spicy tuna and spicy albacore rolls, edamame, and salmon rolls……mmmmmmm. I never used to like sushi as a kid  so I always steered clear of it until my first spicy tuna roll experience at the age of 25. I was with a friend in Oakland, CA who spent at least 30 minutes trying to convince me to taste one, and like a kid I continued to scrunch up my nose. Unfortunately my friend discovered one of my weaknesses when he bet me to eat the spicy tuna roll….it’s very hard for me to back down from a bet….it’s just my competitive nature. So, I ate it….. and, wow……the blinders were off!! From then on out I became a sushi advocate, or what some of my friends like to call a “pseudo” sushi eater….because I only eat “non shellfish” sushi. Either way, I am a fan and I’m almost certain that I could become a permanent “pescetarian” if I had a great live-in Japanese Chef!!

I’ll continue eating  fowl, and the ocassional steak in smaller portions until I get my chef (hint, hint-Hubby) LOL

The whole VFG crew met over my house to talk shop on some ideas and were treated to some of the Hubby’s grilled specialties. We dined on baked potatoes, grilled fresh trout and asparagus…yummy!! We had a great time eating, laughing and bonding- but I  was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture , so my lunch pic will have to do!
