Okay VFG fans…..I have to admit that yesterday, “day 5″ was my hardest diet day yet! I started off great with a bowl of Special K and almonds for breakfast….lunch was delicious: Lemon spinach/olive pasta salad with leftover salmon and- side of grapes. Dinner was shall I say…”Temptation heaven”. I ended up going out with some friends to one of my favorite restaurants : “Mr. Chows”…..the food is an eclectic chinese fusion mixture and always very tasty!!! Usually when there’s a large group of people the chef sends his own favorite selections to the table so low and behold; out come the trays of chicken satay, filet mignon wrapped asparagus, chicken lettuce wraps, and loads of shellfish dishes. F.Y.I– I don’t eat shellfish..never have:-(
While I nibbled on seaweed and candied walnuts, watching everyone dig in happily, I kept hearing a voice in my head saying, “go ahead Kam, no one here knows about your diet…treat yourself….. don’t cheat yourself”. LOL A couple of my friends finally noticed that I wasn’t indulging in any of the wonderful meat dishes and asked why..so I told them about my diet challenge and received plenty of motivating accolades for staying strong in the midst of such temptations. That was just the motivation I needed to take some initiative and stop the waiter to ask for some good fish dishes! Finally the fish dumplings, sauteed green beans, marinated broiled sea bass and vegetable rice drifted over to the table.
I was so happy I decided to resist the overwhelming temptation! I’m going to beat this challenge and prove that; ” I am stronger than my food”!!!!!
